I have been working with wordpress for little over a month now, I had previously been aware of wordpress and similar site but had always avoided using them; mainly because I wanted to develop the skills to develop an entire site from scratch.
Upon using WP I have found that it actually gives you just as much freedom as a from scratch development but with all the advantages of pre written and proven plugins/apps.
I intend to build my own WP theme from scratch to test my limits. In the future I intend to build my freelance sites using WP to give my clients more control over there web content.
Whilst searching for tips and trick I came across this blog entry, it is very good at explaining the transition from artwork to WP theme but also the way wordpress thinks.

It is commonly thought that all designers use Macs, however most designer I know use PC’s and Laptops because of the simple fact that they are cheaper to buy and run. Windows 7 has gone some of they way of bridging the functionality gap between Apple and MS machines. However Windows 8 is well into its production (in some aspects since 2002).
Hopefully Windows 8 will hold more surprises for designers. A demo video and website have already been posted.

ecodazoo.com is a 3d educational flash environment that encourages you to explore and learn at the same time. The quality of graphics is superb considering it is running on a flash engine.
This show a real leap forward in the way people are encouraged to interact with the digital world. The style has all the fun and nostalgia of a ‘Blue Peter ‘ home project with graphical appeal to match.

YUDU is a online digital publishing company that allows you to create flip book style publications. Its full package of features does cost money but the free version has pretty much everything you would want.
When I’am working on projects like magazines; most modern printers now use a similar interface to sign of pages on proof documents.
You can embed YUDU publications on any web site as well as share them on twitter, facebook, blogger etc
